FireFighter1 Named 2025 Small Business of the Year: A Community-Driven Mission Saving Homes.

Recognition in business is often measured in revenue, growth, or market share. But every so often, an award represents something far more meaningful; community trust, purpose, and impact.

On February 19th, 2026, FireFighter1 was honored as the 2025 Small Business of the Year by the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce, a milestone that reflects not just business success, but a shared commitment to fire safety, innovation, and protecting communities.

This recognition, presented at the scenic Serrano Country Club and supported by local, state, and national leaders, marks a defining moment—not just for the company, but for the growing movement toward proactive fire preparedness.

And for FireFighter1, the timing carries an even deeper meaning.

A Legacy Honored: More Than an Award.

March has always held special significance for the FireFighter1 family. It marks the birthday of our late father whose ingenuity and determination laid the foundation for what FF1 has become today!

His vision was simple yet powerful: find a way to protect homes using the resources already available. During wildfire threats in California, he turned to his own pool as a water source, using it to wet down his property and reduce fire risk.

That practical, life-driven innovation evolved into what is now FireFighter1; a system designed to give homeowners immediate access to pool water in the face of threats and emergencies.

Receiving Small Business of the Year around his birthday month feels like a full-circle moment. It is not just recognition; it is a gift of validation that his idea has grown into a solution helping families and communities across the country safeguard their homes, properties, and memories.

Built by Community, for Community:

What makes this award especially meaningful is how it was earned. Businesses are nominated and voted on by local residents; people who directly experience their impact. Finalists then submit their stories and mission to a selection board, making this recognition both community-driven and merit-based.

For FireFighter1, this local support has been instrumental from day one.

El Dorado Hills is where our earliest prototypes were built, where our first systems were assembled and shipped, and where our first partnerships took shape. Local businesses like Gregg’s Pool Works were among the first to believe in our concept, helping bring the product into real-world applications.

Today, FireFighter1 systems are still shipped locally from El Dorado Hills and Shingle Springs, with plans to expand into larger warehouse operations in the area. FF1 continues to invest back into the community through school donations, local partnerships, and outreach efforts that promote fire safety awareness.

This isn’t just a business operating in a community; it’s a business built by one.

Why This Recognition Matters in 2026:

Wildfires are no longer seasonal; they are becoming year-round threats. According to the National Interagency Fire Center, millions of acres burn annually across the United States, with increasing frequency in states like California, Arizona, and even regions historically considered low-risk, like the east coast.

At the same time:

  • More homes are being built in wildfire-prone areas, particularly within the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI).
  • Insurance companies are tightening requirements for coverage in high-risk zones.
  • Homeowners are being asked to take greater responsibility for fire mitigation.

This is where FireFighter1’s mission aligns with a much larger shift.

Being named Small Business of the Year is not just about growth; it signals leadership in what many are calling the “Safer from Wildfires” movement. It reflects a commitment to equipping homeowners with practical tools that help reduce risk, meet insurance expectations, and respond effectively during emergencies by providing instant access to already-available water.

From Recognition to Real-World Impact:

Awards are meaningful; but what matters most is how they translate into value for homeowners.

As spring approaches, property owners across California and other fire-prone regions begin preparing for fire season. March and April are critical months for:

  • Creating a fortified defensible space.
  • Inspecting/upgrading equipment and emergency resources & plans.
  • Reviewing insurance policies and renewals.

Fire preparedness is no longer optional, it is a requirement for long-term property protection and community prosperity.

FireFighter1 plays a direct role in this preparation by transforming a standard swimming pool into an accessible fire defense system. With the ability to deliver over 100 gallons per minute and reach distances exceeding 40 feet high, the system allows homeowners to:

  • Pre-soak roofs, fences, and landscaping.
  • Defend against embers and spot fires.
  • Protect neighboring properties when needed.
  • Stop the spread of wildfires with early detection and action.

This immediate access to water can be critical, especially in situations where emergency services could be delayed due to high demand and difficult terrains.

Designed for Reliability When It Matters Most:

One of the defining aspects of FireFighter1 is its focus on simplicity, longevity, and craftsmanship.

Unlike large, fixed fire suppression systems that can cost upwards of $10,000 and require complex installation, FireFighter1 is designed for accessibility:

  • Lightweight, user-friendly hose systems.
  • Patent-pending folded-and-boxed design for quick deployment.
  • Pressure-tested to 100 PSI and built to NFPA standards.
  • Durable polypropylene components resistant to pool chemicals and outdoor conditions.

Because the system connects directly to a pool pump, a piece of equipment homeowners already maintain regularly, it offers a level of reliability that standalone emergency systems often lack.

In many cases, traditional backup systems sit unused for years, increasing the risk of failure when they are finally needed. FireFighter1 eliminates that uncertainty by integrating into a system that is already part of daily or weekly maintenance routines.

Local Roots, Expanding Reach:

While FireFighter1’s foundation is deeply rooted in El Dorado Hills, its impact is rapidly expanding.

What began as a local innovation is now being adopted across:

  • California wildfire zones, the Northeast and Southwest and across the nation.
  • North and Central America.
  • Coastal and island regions including Hawaii and Costa Rica.

The company continues to build partnerships with pool professionals, contractors, and safety organizations to ensure proper installation, education, and accessibility.

Yet despite this growth, the mission remains the same: protect communities by empowering individuals.

Weekly Fact-Drops:

Did you know that the "Safer from Wildfires" movement is an interagency partnership that brings together entrepreneurs, insurance commissioners, emergency responders, and state agencies to reduce wildfire risk to communities, homes, and businesses through proactive mitigation. It emphasizes "hardening" homes against embers and creating defensible space, recognizing that more than a third of the US population (115M) live in areas that could experience fire catastrophes.

More Than a Business; A Movement:

At its core, FireFighter1 represents a shift in how we think about fire safety.

Historically, homeowners have relied almost entirely on emergency services for protection. But as wildfire intensity increases and resources become stretched thin, a new model is emerging; one where communities play an active role in their own defense.

FF1 is not a replacement for firefighters. It is a tool that bridges the gap; providing critical minutes of response time before professional crews can arrive.

A Future Built on Preparedness:

Winning the “2025 Small Business of the Year” award is not a finish line; it is a milestone in an ongoing journey.

It represents:

  • A father’s vision brought to life.
  • A community’s belief in a mission.
  • A growing movement toward proactive fire safety.

As wildfire risks continue to evolve, so must the solutions we rely on. FireFighter1 is committed to staying at the forefront of that evolution, developing new tools, building partnerships, and spreading awareness that helps homeowners stay ready.

Because protecting your home and loved ones should never depend on chance, rather based on bullet-proof preparation.

And with the right tools, that preparation starts today.
